Power cuts: how the schedules will work on 6 June

6 June 2024 09:22

Today, 6 June, scheduled power outages will take place throughout the day. The blackouts will be applied in all regions. This was reported by Ukrenergo.

“On 6 June, a deficit in the power system is forecast throughout the day. Limits on electricity consumption will be in effect for each region from 00:00 to 24:00,”

– ukrenergo said.

In case of exceeding the limits, emergency blackouts may be used for all categories of consumers.

On Wednesday, 5 June, blackout schedules were in effect throughout Ukraine. In this case, power outages occurred in the grey and light grey (probable) blackout zones.

According to Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, CEO of NPC Ukrenergo, this week’s situation in the Ukrainian power system will be more complicated than in the last days of May. This situation is caused by three factors. The first factor is the scheduled outage of two nuclear power units. The second is the consequences of Russian shelling of energy facilities on 31 May and 1 June. The third, according to Kudrytskyi, is the projected increase in consumption due to the heat wave.

He added that the biggest electricity shortages will be in the morning and evening of every day for the next week.

Thelast attack on the Ukrainian power system took place on the night of 1 June. Then the Russian military struck at power facilities in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Donetsk, Kirovohrad and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. In particular, the occupiers hit two hydroelectric power plants. This is the sixth massive attack on the Ukrainian energy system since March.
