The situation in the power system will improve in the near future. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said this during a question time with the government, reports [Kommersant].

This is due to the peculiarities of the repair campaign at generation facilities, the head of the ministry explained.

“We have organised the repair campaign in such a way that the nuclear generation will operate at full capacity during the autumn-winter period… We are trying to reduce the timeframe as much as possible, and the main thing is to avoid threats to nuclear and radiation safety,” he said.

According to him, Energoatom’s specialists are doing everything possible to reload the fuel and put the units into operation as soon as possible.

What is the current situation in Ukraine’s power system?

According to Herman Galushchenko, there are grid restrictions in the country due to constant Russian attacks on substations.

“Unfortunately, we have network restrictions. But again, why did this happen? This is a consequence of Russian attacks on substations. These are constant strikes and, unfortunately, strikes that sometimes reach their target,” the minister said.

Galushchenko also explained that due to network constraints, it is impossible to transfer all the available generation in a particular region. After all, trunk and distribution substations, along with generating facilities, are among the main targets of Russian missile attacks.
