Tennis player Elina Svitolina and swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk will carry the blue and yellow flag of Ukraine at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, which will take place today, 26 July. This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Svitolina and Romanchuk are the winners of the 2020 Olympic Games. In Tokyo, Elina won bronze in the singles tournament, while Mykhailo won silver and bronze in the 1500 and 800 metres freestyle, respectively.

It should be noted that at the previous 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which took place in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ukrainian flag was carried by shooter Olena Kostevych and fencer Bohdan Nikishyn.

This year, 10,714 athletes from 206 countries will take part in the Olympic Games, which is down from 11,092 athletes at the previous Games in Tokyo. The Ukrainian team has received 124 licences to participate in the Olympics. Ukraine will be represented in 26 of the 32 disciplines.
