Ukraine has become the second country in the world where the World Economic Forum has opened a Global Government Technology Center, the first one being in Berlin. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, the main goal of the GovTech Center is to popularize Ukraine’s experience in digital reforms around the world. The Ukrainian center is part of the World Economic Forum’s network of Centers for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
According to the World Economic Forum, Ukraine has become a global leader in government digital technologies in recent years, so its experience will be useful for other countries.
“The GovTech Center will bring together government, business, startups, and scientists to look for new digital solutions and create joint projects with international partners, and share experiences,” said Mykhailo Fedorov.
Main areas of work of the GovTech Center
– GovTech Observatory – tracking global GovTech trends, conducting research and analytics;
– Innovation Gateway – search for partners in the innovation development track: AI, EdTech, Defense Tech, Semiconductors, BioTech, Green Tech, AUV;
– FutureGov Education – training digital leaders in the most advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence. In partnership with CDTO Campus, the center will create a space where leaders can test and implement digital solutions.
Mykhailo Fedorov said that the Center is headed by Zoya Lytvyn, an effective manager, social entrepreneur, and innovative leader who is actively implementing digital transformation in education.
The Minister of Digital Transformation also recalled that the opening of the GovTech Center was agreed at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2024, and now it is already operating in Kyiv.
What is known about the centers launched by the World Economic Forum
In 2017, the World Economic Forum opened the first Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco, California, and soon centers appeared in Japan and India.
The network now includes centers in Austin (Texas, USA), Detroit (Michigan, USA), Azerbaijan, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Telangana, India, the UAE, Vietnam, and now Ukraine.
The Kyiv GovTech Center will become part of the World Economic Forum’s Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) network and only the second center in the world to focus on government technology. The first one opened in Berlin in January 2024.
The Global Government Technology Center in Kyiv is supported by the EGAP Program, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with funding from Switzerland, and initiated and facilitated by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
