A new feature has been added to the Army app that allows members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to apply for a transfer to another unit quickly and conveniently. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The digitalization of the army continues in Ukraine: on November 15, the Army app launched a function to submit a report for a change of duty station. Thanks to this innovation, the military was able to significantly simplify the procedure for transferring to other units, avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.

“The process is as convenient as possible and takes only about 15 minutes,” said Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

How the new feature works

To submit a report, you need to have with you

  • a military ID card or officer’s certificate;
  • a letter of recommendation from the unit to which the transfer is planned;
  • a conclusion of the military medical commission (for transfers due to health reasons).

It is important to note that at this stage, the commander’s consent is not required. The request is automatically sent to the Personnel Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where it is reviewed within 72 hours.

“In some cases, the Personnel Center directly addresses the commanders of military units for approval. In particular, for transferring between rear units or between combat brigades. Approval is also required if the soldier is an officer or holds an officer’s position,” explained Umerov.

The service provides for transparency at all stages. In case of rejection, the Army app indicates the reasons for the rejection, which are defined by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1291 dated 12.11.2024.

For example, a transfer is prohibited if:

  • the serviceman has served in the unit for less than six months;
  • less than a year has passed since the previous transfer at the initiative of the serviceman.

“This function was created to simplify the transfer process,” emphasized Umerov. “We want the Ukrainian military to be able to quickly resolve personnel issues.

The function became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Armed Forces and civil society organizations.

“Army.ua has already proven to be a convenient tool for the military, and this update is an important step towards increasing efficiency and convenience in service,” the minister emphasized.

The day before, a survey was conducted in the Army app on the issue of transferring to other service locations. The main questions were about current service position, duties, military experience and reasons for wanting to change units. At that time, the Ministry of Defense announced the simplification of this procedure for the Armed Forces.
