Resignation of Budanov and Umerov: the President of Ukraine has put the final point on it

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyydenied reports of a possible replacement of the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine , Kyrylo Budanov. The head of state said this on 22 October during a meeting with journalists, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“I was not going to do this. I was not going to replace Budanov. This information was circulating, yes. There was no such question about Umerov either,” Zelensky said.
It should be noted that at the end of September 2024, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov dismissed two deputy heads of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, and also withdrew the Spetstechnoexport company, which was engaged in the purchase of weapons, from the subordination of the Defence Intelligence.
Military and political experts viewed this as a weakening of the position of the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov. The media, citing their sources in the GUR, began to write about the impending resignation of Kyrylo Budanov, as well as the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
