During the years of full-scale war, Ukraine has lost more than 100 dairy farms. This was stated by Olena Zhupinas, Deputy Director General of the Association of Milk Producers, in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Dairy farms remain under constant shelling. These are not random strikes, but targeted attacks to destroy jobs in the villages,” Zhupinas said.
At the same time, she added that milk production in Ukraine is growing: annually, starting in 2023, by about 6%.
“That is, despite the decline in the number of cows, the productivity of the cows themselves is growing. This gives a good indicator of the growth of milk production in Ukraine,” she clarified.

As a reminder, due to the hostilities, some dairy farms ended up in the occupied territories or were destroyed. Also, logistics and energy costs have increased in the frontline regions.
In addition, global prices for dairy products are also rising, especially in the EU, where Ukraine exports a portion of its products. This encourages producers to reorient their supplies abroad, which affects the domestic market.
