Stolen history: occupiers plan to build a museum on the site of Azovstal

The occupiers plan to create a museum cluster on the site of Azovstal in Mariupol, attempting to rewrite history and erase the memory of the heroic resistance of Ukrainian defenders.
According to "Komersant Ukrainian", this was reported by the Mariupol City Council.
According to the so-called “pseudo-mayor” of the city, Anton Koltsov, Azovstal will not be restored to its pre-war state.
The territory of the plant will be divided into three zones: historical and memorial, industrial, and recreational. In the historical part, they plan to create a museum of the history of the enterprise, and some industrial objects may be left as open-air exhibits.
The occupiers intend to transform the main area of Azovstal into a so-called post-industrial park with “ecological and high-tech” industries. There is also talk of recreation areas and commercial facilities.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side emphasizes that such plans are an attempt to erase the memory of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian military, for whom Azovstal became a symbol of resilience in the first months of the full-scale war. During the occupation of Mariupol, the Russians have been systematically rewriting the city’s history, demolishing Ukrainian monuments, and turning sites of war crimes into showcase “reconstruction projects.”
It should be recalled that it was on the territory of Azovstal that Ukrainian defenders held back the superior forces of the enemy for a long time, becoming a symbol of resistance and struggle for Mariupol.
