Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov said that the Akhmat-Chechnya regiment had allegedly occupied the village of Ryzhivka in Sumy region, but local authorities denied the Russian propaganda, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
On the evening of Sunday, 9 June, Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov announced the alleged occupation of Ryzhivka, a settlement located on the border with the Kursk region of the Russian aggressor state, near the Russian village of Tiotkino, by Russian troops. His statement was replicated by Russian media. At the same time, he published a video of the shelling of Ryzhivka, at the end of which a sign of the Ryzhivka village library is shown.
The head of the Bilopil community, Yuriy Zarko, said that there were no Russian occupiers in Ryzhivka.
According to the deputy mayor of Bilopillia, Volodymyr Viduiev, as of 22 May 2024, there were 7 people left in Ryzhivka.
The village of Ryzhivka is located in the Sumy region on the border with Russia. It is 2 kilometres from the Kursk region and borders the Russian town of Tiotkino.
Meanwhile, DeepState, which monitors the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine, noted that from 2022 to the present day, the situation in Ryzhivka has remained unchanged – there were practically no Ukrainian military there, and the settlement itself is a so-called grey zone, where Russian subversive reconnaissance groups regularly entered.
“Today, ‘Ahmat-Chai’ published a video of them walking around the village and shooting at the surrounding villages. They could have carried out this action on any other day of the year. Ryzhivka’s problem is geographical. The village is across the river and was actually a satellite of the entire village of Tiotkino,”
– the statement said.
Earlier, the Sumy Regional Military Administration called for the evacuation of residents of the 10-kilometre border zone. Given the intensity of shelling of the settlements of the Bilopil community, evacuation within the 10-kilometre zone was recommended.
The military command claims that Russia may be preparing an offensive in the Sumy region.
Against the backdrop of the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, talk of a possible attack on the capital has also spread. However, according to military expert Oleh Zhdanov, there will be no offensive on Kyiv because the Russians do not have enough resources to do so.
