Casualties reported in the suburbs
Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that two people injured as a result of Russian strikes on the Kyiv region had been taken to hospitals in the capital. “Two victims, a woman and a child, were hospitalized in Kyiv from the suburbs of the capital. Preliminary reports indicate that debris fell in a private sector,” the mayor wrote on his Telegram channel.
Similarly, local media and public accounts in the capital shared videos and photos of a fire, reportedly in the private sector of the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka, which borders the capital.
Earlier, however, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, reported that as a result of the Russian attack, “a residential high-rise building in the Svyatoshinsky district was damaged.” “There is a fire on the roof of the building,” Tkachenko wrote.
One of the main targets of the massive Russian missile and drone attack on the night of Sunday, February 22, was energy infrastructure. Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration (OVA), reported that Russian drones attacked energy facilities in the Odessa region that night.
“The strikes caused large areas to catch fire. All the fires have now been extinguished by rescue workers. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. The assessment of the condition of the energy facilities and the elimination of the consequences are ongoing,” the official wrote on his Telegram channel.
