World first: Ukrainians can now get married in a mobile app (video)

A new service has been made available to Ukrainians in the Diia mobile application for administrative services: now you can get married using it. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the a post by by Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
“We are launching online marriage in Diia. Only in Ukraine can you go through the full cycle of marriage – from filing an application, to marriage online, to a certificate in the app. You no longer need to go anywhere, collect documents, or put them in a file to become husband and wife. From now on, it’s just a few clicks in Diia,” Fedorov wrote.
In the app, you can decide whether to keep your maiden name or change to your husband’s surname upon marriage. Now, it only takes a few clicks with the mouse.
The whole marriage process will take about 30 minutes, the certificate will immediately appear in Diia, and the paper version will be sent by post.
By the way, the ceremony will also take place online. All you need to do is follow the link in Diia on the day you choose.
The head of the Ministry also said that the Diia service was developed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation jointly with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the State Enterprise National Information Systems, the Digital Office of the Civil Registry Office, the State Migration Service, and Ukrposhta with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP programme implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation. The technical partner was Cisco, which provided a Cisco Webex video conferencing solution under a memorandum signed with the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
How to get married in Diia
Update the Diia app and open the Services section – select Online Marriage.
Click “Make a proposal” and send it to your loved one via any messenger.
Your partner will receive a notification and must respond within 14 days.
Once you agree, enter your details for the application within 12 hours.
The system will then offer available dates for the ceremony, starting with the nearest ones – at least 5 days away.

For to the information of Mykhailo Fedorov, the first 100 military couples to get married in a smartphone have the opportunity to receive SOVA wedding rings for free. To do this, the brand has produced a limited collection of jewellery that will not be on sale.
How to get the rings?
- Apply for marriage online in Diia and fill out the form on the SOVA website.
- Get married in Diia from 9.09 to 30.11.2024.
- Send a marriage certificate online to SOVA and order wedding rings.
- Present the online marriage certificate and military ID to the SOVA consultant in the jewellery store.
