For the first time in Ukraine: auction of guarantees of electricity origin from renewable sources

The first auction of guarantees of origin for electricity produced from renewable energy sources took place in Ukraine. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to information from Market Operator JSC.

During the auction, 28,257 guarantees of origin offered by Ukrhydroenergo were purchased on the Market Operator’s platform.

They were purchased by 12 Ukrainian companies. The price of one Guarantee of Origin at the auction was UAH 13/MWh.

It should be noted that Guarantees of Origin is an electronic document that confirms that a certain amount of electricity was generated from renewable sources.

Ukrhydroenergo, which was the first to receive guarantees of electricity origin from renewable sources in the Register of such guarantees administered by the national energy regulator NEURC, initiated the first auction for their sale on the Market Operator’s website.

The planned sales volume was 50,000 guarantees, which is equivalent to 50,000 MWh of electricity generated.”
