Impressive feat of “farmer Rambo” from Kherson region: more than 19 thousand Ukrainians signed a petition

Alina Gordienko, the daughter of the deceased farmer from Kherson Oblast, Oleksandr Gordienko, initiated a petition to the President of Ukraine to award her father the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously). As of today, more than 19 thousand people have already signed the document. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the petition.
Oleksandr Hordienko ran a farm in the Beryslav district and headed the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of the Kherson region. He was called a “Rambo farmer” for his incredible courage and fight against enemy drones that terrorized Ukrainian fields.
After the de-occupation of the right-bank Kherson region, he personally cleared thousands of hectares of land of mines.
“After the de-occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region, he personally demined thousands of hectares of fields, from where he removed more than 5,000 anti-tank mines. Later, in order to continue working on the land, he saved equipment and workers from shelling. He also fought enemy drones using electronic warfare and shot them down with a rifle. He shot down more than 200 Russian drones. The Kherson region called him “Farmer Rambo” for his daily destruction of drones in the fields,” the petition says.
on September 2, 2025, Oleksandr Gordienko took part in a meeting with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to discuss the problems of farmers during the war.
And on September 5, the enemy used a self-guided drone, which became fatal for the farmer. His injuries were incompatible with life.
“He loved the land, worked for people, and was a true patriot,” the petition says.
In the text of the appeal to the President of Ukraine, the daughter and family ask to honor the memory of Oleksandr Hordiyenko, who gave his life so that the Ukrainian land could continue to give birth.
As of now, 19,763 people have signed the petition. The President needs 25,000 signatures to consider it.
