Explosion at the Roskhim plant: drones attacked a petrochemical plant

In the Russian city of Sterlitamak (Bashkortostan), on the morning of November 4, a powerful explosion occurred on the territory of the SNKhZ petrochemical plant, which is part of the Roskhim holding. The incident occurred against the backdrop of the announced threat of a drone attack. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian media.
According to preliminary data, the explosion led to the collapse of the water treatment plant.
Eyewitnesses report at least three fires – thick puffs of smoke were visible over the city’s industrial area.
What is known about the attack
Local residents heard two explosions – at 6:22 and 7:09 am local time. Surveillance video posted by Telegram channels confirms that the explosions occurred almost an hour apart.
After the incident, local authorities said that the causes of the incident were being investigated.
At the same time, the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, admitted that the explosions were the result of a drone attack.
“Sterlitamak’s industrial complex was subjected to a terrorist attack by two UAVs. Both drones were shot down by the Ministry of Defense and the company’s security service. Their wreckage fell on the territory of an auxiliary shop. No one was killed or injured, and the plant is operating normally,” Khabirov said.

The Sterlitamatsk Petrochemical Plant produces rubber, ionol, aviation gasoline and other products for the needs of industry and the defense sector. The company is part of the Russian chemical holding Roskhim.
A series of drone attacks in Russian regions
This is not the first drone attack on Russian industrial facilities in recent days. Earlier it was reported that in the city of Rylsk, after four drones struck, an accident occurred at a power substation, which left more than 16,000 consumers in three districts of the Kursk region without electricity.
