An explosion has occurred in a shopping center in Kyiv’s Obolon district. According to the capital’s police, the incident was caused by a strike grenade, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
What happened
According to preliminary information, a 39-year-old local resident, while intoxicated, entered a store in one of Obolon’s shopping and entertainment centers.
He began to confront the staff, after which he threw a strikeball grenade, which exploded.
The investigative team and explosives experts immediately arrived at the scene.
Are there any victims?
The police report that there were no civilian casualties.
No one was injured in the explosion.
The suspect has been detained
Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator on the spot.
The police are currently working with him to establish all the circumstances and motives of the incident.
The issue of legal qualification of the incident is being resolved – the man’s actions are likely to fall under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine related to hooliganism or the use of explosive devices.
