Payments like on the front line: Parliament adopts law for soldiers fighting in Russia

Today, on 20 August, the Verkhovna Rada approved payments for the military defending Ukraine in Russia (Bill 11483). This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

321 MPs supported Bill No. 11483 on preferences for the military conducting operations in enemy territory.

“The Rada has adopted draft law No. 11483 on the status of the military fighting in Russia. The total number of votes was 321. The law guarantees the military fighting in Russia, in particular in the Kursk region, the same payments and preferences as on the front line,” the MP wrote.

According to the new law, the Ukrainian military taking part in hostilities in the territory of the Russian Federation receive the same financial benefits and social guarantees as their colleagues on the front line in Ukraine. This includes the payment of UAH 100,000 per month.

This Law applies to servicemen performing military duty outside Ukraine, including on the territory of the aggressor state during their direct participation in the implementation and/or ensuring the implementation of measures necessary to ensure the defence of Ukraine, protection of the security of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the armed aggression against Ukraine, namely

• servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
• other military formations and special purpose law enforcement agencies established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine;
• state special purpose bodies with law enforcement functions;
• The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine;
• the intelligence agency of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine;
• the intelligence agency of the central executive body implementing the state policy in the field of state border protection;
• The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, who are on military service in the territory of Ukraine, and servicemen of the above military formations;
• law enforcement and intelligence agencies;
• as well as their family members.

Earlier, Zelenskyy called on the Rada to urgently consider the issue of the participants in the operation in Kursk region. He said that MPs should consider guarantees for the Ukrainian military, who are taking part in the fighting in Russia’s Kursk region and will participate “in all our other actions on the territory of the aggressor country”.

According to him, the Ukrainian military should receive “absolutely all payments and preferences that are provided for the front line”.
