Analytical company StatCounter has presented updated statistics on the market share of Microsoft operating systems. As of October 2025, Windows 11 strengthened its leadership, exceeding the 50% mark in the global PC market, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the service, the share of devices running Windows 11 reached 55.18% of the total number of monitored computers. Windows 10, on the other hand, continued to lose ground: the figure for this OS dropped to 41.71%, down from 43.78% a month earlier. Analysts attribute this to the end of official support for the outdated operating system, which encourages corporate and private users to switch to the latest platform.
Despite the actual obsolescence of the system, Windows 7 still holds the third place with 2.52% of the global market. At the same time, the newer Windows 8 (including 8.1) takes 0.34%, and the outdated Windows XP – 0.22%.
Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10 in October 2025. The company stopped providing technical assistance, component and security updates for this system, urging users to upgrade to Windows 11. Users whose devices do not meet the requirements of Windows 11 can register for a paid extended support program or buy a new computer.
