1 December 2025 06:14
The issue of providing security guarantees to Ukraine remained unresolved following the talks between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Florida.
This was reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) with reference to a senior US administration official, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the publication, other key unresolved issues include the nature of security guarantees from the United States and Western allies. During the talks, the topic of a possible territorial exchange between Russia and Ukraine was also raised.
The newspaper notes that the question remains whether Moscow will insist on international recognition of the new regions as part of Russia. This aspect continues to be one of the key issues in the negotiation process.
What is known about the meeting in Miami
on November 30, the US-Ukraine meeting took place in Miami, Florida. This is the second meeting of the delegations in this format after the talks in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 23.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov. According to him, the delegation is working under clear directives from the President of Ukraine: to protect the interests of the state, to engage in substantive dialogue and to promote the decisions developed during the meetings in Geneva. The delegation was also joined by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna.
After this meeting, US Special Representative Steve Vitkoff will meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The Kremlin did not disclose details of the meeting.
