Almost all Ukrainians have been living without power cuts for several days now, although last week a number of experts said that power cuts were unavoidable. According to MP Serhiy Nagornyak, as of 9 September, there was no shortage of power in the grid, so if there is no new shelling, there will be no more blackouts in the near future. This thesis in an exclusive commentary "Komersant Ukrainian" this thesis was confirmed by Volodymyr Omelchenko, Director of Energy Programmes at the Razumkov Centre.

“Today, there is no significant shortage of electricity, and the shortage can be compensated by imports. This is due to the fact that there is no heat wave and some units have been repaired. No shortage is expected in the coming weeks either. Most likely, if there is a deficit, it will be minimal in September and October, provided there are no shocks to the energy system or unforeseen problems at thermal and nuclear power plants,” the expert explained.

Volodymyr Omelchenko stressed that earlier the power was cut off due to cluster munitions and the repair of some equipment that had failed.

“The delay was caused by cluster munitions scattered around the substations, and we had to collect them to start repair work. It was also due to the fact that unexpectedly some equipment at one of the units of the South Ukrainian NPP went out of order. Therefore, the blackouts lasted a little longer than expected,” said the director of energy programmes at the Razumkov Centre.

As a reminder, recently in an exclusive commentary [Kommersant] energy expert Sergiy Dyachenko recently told whether Ukraine would be in a complete blackout.
