How to get a “Schoolchild’s Package”: explanation from the Ministry of Social Policy

Parents whose children are entering the first grade will receive push notifications in the Diia app about the opportunity to apply for social assistance under the Schoolchildren’s Package program. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing the Ministry of Social Policy.

According to her, the notification comes after the child is officially enrolled in school:

“The school system transmits information to the Pension Fund, and parents receive a notification in Diia. After confirming their consent through the app, the money is credited to a special virtual card. Everything is very simple,” Zholnovych explained.

For those who do not use Diia, there is an alternative – to apply to the Pension Fund and provide bank account details for crediting funds.

The minister clarified that the ₴5,000 can only be spent on children’s goods in specialized stores or supermarkets with appropriate departments. Online stores can also participate in the program. The list of outlets will be gradually expanded.

“Under no circumstances can these funds be used for goods not related to children. Only those stores that have the appropriate classification participate in the program. Businesses that want to join the program must implement a system of goods verification, otherwise they will not be able to participate,” the head of the Ministry of Social Policy emphasized.

As a reminder, the “Schoolchild’s Package” social payment of ₴5,000 was introduced at the initiative of the President of Ukraine. It is intended for families who send their children to the first grade.
