Law enforcers have released a video of the investigation, detention and interrogation of the suspect in the murder of former MP and linguist Iryna Farion, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that 900 witnesses were interviewed during the investigation. Before the suspect was identified, the investigation worked through more than 80 people who looked like him.

During the briefing, law enforcement officers showed video from surveillance cameras in different parts of Lviv, which recorded the suspect’s movements around the city and receipts for the housing he rented.

The moment of the murder was not captured on the surveillance footage, but it did show the suspect approaching the corner of the house. He had been waiting for Irina Farion for about two hours. The fatal shot was fired while she was waiting for a taxi.

Law enforcement officers also showed fragments of the special operation to detain and interrogate the suspect.

When asked whether he had committed the murder or was guilty, the detainee replied “it will be seen, we’ll see”. When asked “how would you explain your actions when you committed the murder”, the man thought for a few minutes and answered “the next question”. The suspect also did not answer the question about the motives for the murder.

The suspect is currently in custody, and a pre-trial restraint is to be imposed on him on Friday in Lviv. The man is suspected under Article 115 (1) of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder).

It should be noted that the next victim of the suspect in the murder of Irina Farion could be MP from the Servant of the People party Maksym Buzhansky from Dnipro.

The suspect’s phone searches contain the names of other politicians and MPs. He also searched for information about regional council meetings, etc. He was looking for all this after Farion’s murder.
