How to recognize fakes and counteract hate on the Internet – this is the topic of today’s All-Ukrainian lesson on media literacy

The annual All-Ukrainian lesson on media literacy will start today at 11:00. The lesson is organized for students in grades 5-11, their parents and teachers. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The lesson will be conducted by the national media literacy project “Filter” of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications and Public Broadcasting with the support of UNDP.
The lesson will be broadcast on the Suspilne Kultura TV channel and the Pershyi YouTube channel.
How the lesson will be held
This year’s lesson will be held in the format of a team quest, during which five teenagers aged 12-16 will complete interactive tasks together with famous celebrity guests and experts.
The lesson covers the most pressing issues of the modern information environment: how to recognize fakes, artificial intelligence and the challenges of its use, countering hate on the Internet, and understanding historical events. Each lesson task is designed in the format of edutainment – learning through play.
How to win prizes
To compete for the main prize – a trip to one of the most picturesque cities in Ukraine for the winter holidays – you will need to scan the QR code at the end of the lesson and take a test to check your knowledge. The class that does it the fastest and gives the most correct answers will win the main prize.
Another class will be able to receive a set of gifts from the lesson partners. To do this, according to the organizers, you will need to
- take a joint selfie of the whole class watching the All-Ukrainian Media Literacy Lesson,
- post this photo on your school’s social media or personal pages (Facebook or Instagram) and write your impressions of the lesson,
- use the hashtag #MediaLiteracyLesson2024 and don’t forget to make the page public so that the organizers can see the post.
Among those who post a photo with the hashtag, the organizers will randomly draw a set of gifts from partners.
