How IDPs can get a subsidy for rent and when the payment will start
13 January 2025 16:14
Internally displaced persons in Ukraine will receive a subsidy for renting housing from January 29. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The rental subsidy for IDPs is part of the Winter Support initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Government aimed at helping Ukrainian families in the difficult winter months. It is a comprehensive package of new and existing programs that make assistance more accessible to all those who need it.
Which IDPs are eligible for the subsidy
- people who have moved from the occupied territories or war zones
- people who do not have their own housing on the territory controlled by Ukraine (if the housing is destroyed or unfit for living);
- people who do not receive housing allowance in the amount of UAH 2000-3000;
- families who spend more than 20% of their income on rent.
How the subsidy amount is calculated
The amount of the subsidy is determined individually and depends on:
- family income
- the number of family members;
- the maximum cost of renting an apartment in the region.
If the family’s income is less than UAH 5,840 per person, an even larger portion of the rental cost is compensated, and in some cases even its full amount.
How long is the subsidy granted for?
The rental subsidy for IDPs will be granted for six months, but not more than for two consecutive terms.
How can an IDP receive a rental subsidy?
To receive a subsidy, you need a rental agreement, which can be signed and submitted together with the application:
- at the offices of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
- through the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s electronic services web portal, Pension Fund of Ukraine mobile application with an electronic signature;
- at the Administrative Services Centers.
When the payment will be made
An application for a rental subsidy will be considered within 10 business days. The subsidy will be transferred to the applicant’s current account opened with an authorized bank.
