How Ukrainians performed at the Olympics on February 18: all results

On Wednesday, February 18, the twelfth day of competition took place at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Ukrainian athletes competed in five sports, including biathlon, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, alpine skiing, and short track speed skating. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the NOC.

Particular attention was drawn to the start of the ski acrobats, whose competition had previously been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will last until February 22.

Cross-country skiing: Ukrainian teams finished their performances in the qualifying round

Ukraine was represented by women’s and men’s duos in the team sprint.

The results for Ukraine:

  • Anastasia Nikon and Sofia Shkatula — 20th place in the qualifying round
  • Dmytro Dragun and Oleksandr Lisogor — 23rd place

Both Ukrainian teams failed to advance to the final stage of the competition.

Freestyle: Brykina was one step away from the Olympic final

In ski acrobatics, Ukrainian athletes finished their performances at the qualifying stage.

The best result was achieved by:

  • Angelina Brykina — 13th place (79.84 points)

She was only 0.18 points short of making it into the top 12 and advancing to the final.

The results of the Ukrainian women: 13. Angelina Brykina (79.84), 18. Diana Yablonska (69.89), 19. Nelly Popovich (64.22), 20. Oksana Yatsyuk (62.68).

Biathlon: Ukrainian women’s team finished ninth in the relay

Ukraine was represented in the women’s relay by:

  • Oleksandra Merkushyna
  • Yulia Dzhyma
  • Khristina Dmytrenko
  • Daryna Chalyk

The Ukrainian team used nine extra cartridges and finished in 9th place.

This is one of the best results for Ukrainians on this day of competition.

Short track: Gandey failed to reach the semifinals

Ukrainian athlete Oleg Gandey competed in the 500-meter short track event.

In the quarterfinal race, he finished

  • 4th place with a result of 41.164 seconds

This was not enough to advance to the semifinals.

It is noted that the athlete competed despite an injury sustained during the qualifying round.

Alpine skiing: Shepilenko was unable to finish

Ukrainian alpine skier Anastasia Shepilenko competed in the slalom, her final discipline at these Olympics.

The athlete was unable to complete the distance and did not receive a final result.

Ukrainians continue to compete at the 2026 Olympics

As of February 18, Ukrainian athletes have not won any medals, but they have shown their fighting spirit in several disciplines.

On February 19, Ukrainian representatives will compete in two more sports and will have new chances for high results.
