If the head of the SAPO wanted to establish the objective truth, Sinyuk should have been retained in his position, – former prosecutor Stanislav Bronevytskyi

The former prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office believes that in order to establish the truth in the cases of data leaks from the NABU and SAPO, Sinyuk had to be retained in his position at any cost. Stanislav Bronevytskyi wrote about this on his Facebook page, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In his opinion, only such a step would have allowed to prove Sinyuk’s involvement in the leaks and bring him to justice or, in the absence of confirmation, to honestly inform the public about it.
“There were legal mechanisms for this: vacation, suspension, temporary removal from office – anything but allowing him to ‘follow his own agenda. Such statements by Klymenko are not worth the paper on which Sinyuk’s statement is written,” the former prosecutor said.
Bronevytskyi emphasized that the deputy head of the SAPO formally resigned in order not to interfere with the investigation, while in fact it is he who should give explanations about possible leaks of information to the defendants. After all, Sinyuk’s role is described in Mindich’s suspicion.
In particular, the document, published by Ukrayinska Pravda, states that one of the heads of the prosecutor’s office, as an executor in a criminal organization
- monitored and obtained any information that could pose a threat to the disclosure of the organization’s activities and exposure of crimes committed by it;
- received information required by the Organized Crime Group about the activities of the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office;
- transmitted information to Myroniuk I.M. and Basov D.M. on the progress, status and prospects of pre-trial investigation of certain criminal proceedings by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
Currently, 2 criminal proceedings have been initiated due to information leaks from the NABU and the SAPO.
Earlier, Bronevytskyi accused the anti-corruption agencies of imitating the search for Mindich and Zukerman.
“After a series of videos with cuts of conversations and the emotional tension in which the country lived because of these events, society should know why the organizers of the crimes were put on the wanted list only 10 days after the notification of suspicion and only 10 days after it became known that they had left. What did they do for 10 days? What were they waiting for and why did they drag it out? We have a right to know. Especially when it is unclear how the departure takes place a few hours before the investigation,” the former SAPO prosecutor wrote on social media.
In turn, the NABU noted that they did not control businessman Timur Mindich ‘s cell phone , did not impose any bans on his travels outside the country, and did not contact the border service.
What is the Mindich case about?
on November 10, the NABU announced that it had uncovered a corruption scheme at Energoatom that involved current and former energy officials. The offenders, according to the investigation, received undue benefits from the company’s counterparties in the amount of 10-15% of the value of contracts, using the so-called “barrier” scheme to control payments and the status of suppliers.
The scheme involved a former deputy head of the State Property Fund, who became an advisor to the Minister of Energy, and a former law enforcement officer, who was the executive director of physical protection at Energoatom. Law enforcement officers found that the actual management of a strategic enterprise with an annual revenue of over UAH 200 billion was carried out by unauthorized persons without formal authority.
The NABU recorded the negotiations of the above-mentioned persons in the so-called back office located in the apartment of entrepreneur Tymur Mindich.
The latter was served a notice of suspicion in absentia as part of the proceedings. Mindich himself has left Ukraine.
