On this holiday, it is customary to honor the memory of the brothers Cosmas and Damian, who lived in Rome in the third century and were later recognized as miracle workers. They were brought up in Christian traditions, and in adulthood they began to treat people, having received the gift of healing from God. The brothers provided medical care without charging their patients, instead asking them to believe in Jesus.
