Which countries are ready to accept children from Okhmatdyt for treatment?

An evacuation flight with patients from Ukraine has taken off for Germany. This was stated by the press service of the German Ministry of Health. For security reasons, the details were not specified, but it was noted that both Ukrainian military personnel and civilians could be taken to Germany. Children from Okhmatdyt will be on board, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Germany is one of the first countries to offer to transport wounded children after the strike on the hospital. Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach contacted university hospitals in Greifswald, Rostock and Charité. They expressed their readiness to implement the project.

In addition to Germany, Ukraine’s Health Minister Viktor Liashko named other countries that have expressed their readiness to accept Ukrainian children from Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt hospital.

“All the Baltic countries. Italy has already applied. Stella Kyriakides, who coordinates all the assistance in the European Union, has applied. Poland is ready to help. The United States of America is ready to help. That is, there is a large number of requests,”

– the minister said.

At the same time, Lyashko stressed that Okhmatdyt doctors are currently providing care to their patients in cooperation with various clinics.

EU to help rebuild Okhmatdyt

Remy Duflot, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, said that the EU would provide financial assistance to rebuild the children’s hospital. The diplomat noted that the day before, the EU Delegation staff had helped with water and food, and cleared the rubble after Russia’s missile attack on Okhmatdyt.

International organisations help O khmatdyt

A number of international companies and charitable organisations have announced a fundraising drive to help rebuild Okhmatdyt.

The American non-profit organisation Nova Ukraine has announced a fundraising drive to cover basic needs (food, water, medicine), reconstruction of the hospital, replacement of equipment and patient safety (improving safe spaces for injured and vulnerable patients and their families).

TheUkrainian American House, based in Sacramento, has announced a $50,000 fundraiser for Okhmatdyt.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets sent letters to a number of international organisations calling for a response to the terror on the part of Russia and the shelling of the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv.

Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said at a briefing on 12 July that next week Okhmatdyt would select a construction company to carry out reconstruction work after the rocket attack on the children’s hospital. According to Lyashko, more than 800 million hryvnias have already been transferred to the hospital’s accounts from charitable foundations.

on 8 July, Russia attacked the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital. An enemy X-101 missile hit the target it was programmed to hit, law enforcement agencies told Ukrainian media. There are dead and more than fifty injured. The Verkhovna Rada called on the world to recognise Russia’s shelling of Okhmatdyt as a terrorist act, but the US did not allow strikes deep into Russia even after that.
