What will the weather be like on Easter: forecasters have released a preliminary forecast

According to preliminary forecasts, the weather in Ukraine over Easter is expected to be mostly calm with no significant precipitation. Forecasters do not currently predict any sudden weather changes in the coming weeks, and overall, April in Ukraine is expected to be within the climatic norm in terms of temperature and precipitation.
Forecaster Natalia Golenia shared the preliminary forecast for Easter in an exclusive comment to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to her, as for April 5, current calculations indicate that Ukraine will see mostly dry weather with no precipitation; nighttime temperatures will range from 2 to 7 degrees, and daytime temperatures will reach 10 to 15 degrees. These figures are quite typical for April, as the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center generally forecasts an average monthly temperature in Ukraine of 8–11 degrees, and in the Carpathians—5–7 degrees.
What the weather might be like on Easter, April 5
Natalia Golenia emphasized that, based on current data, dry weather is expected to prevail in Ukraine on April 5. It will be quite cool at night, but not bitterly cold—ranging from 2 to 7 degrees Celsius—while daytime temperatures in most regions are forecast to reach 10–15 degrees.
This means that Easter Day, specifically April 5, could be comfortable for travel, church services, and outdoor walks.
However, the forecast is still preliminary, and weather conditions in April can traditionally change quite quickly.

What is the weather forecast for Kyiv on April 5?
The meteorologist also provided a separate forecast for the capital. According to her, dry weather with no precipitation is also expected in Kyiv on April 5. At night, temperatures will range from 3 to 5 degrees, and during the day—from 12 to 14 degrees.
In other words, the preliminary forecast for Kyiv looks even slightly warmer than the average April figures.
What is forecast for April 12
Natalia Golenia also shared preliminary estimates for April 12. According to her, the low could range from 6 to 12 degrees, and the high from 13 to 18 degrees.
In the west and south of the country, temperatures could rise as high as 20–22 degrees.
At the same time, the meteorologist emphasizes that these estimates are currently even more preliminary than the forecast for April 5.
For Kyiv, she predicts temperatures around 10 degrees at night and up to 17 degrees during the day on that date.
Why the forecast is still preliminary
Forecasts for a few days ahead are usually more accurate than those for a week or two. That is why the estimates for April 5 look more reliable, while forecasters are already calling the forecast for April 12 preliminary.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center previously explained that April in Ukraine is a transitional month with a rapid rise in temperatures, but also with typical weather fluctuations, including rain, thunderstorms, and brief cold snaps. This means the weather for Easter may still be refined closer to the actual dates.
What will April generally be like in Ukraine?
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center’s monthly forecast, April 2026 is expected to be within normal ranges.
The average temperature is expected to be 8–11 degrees, and in the Carpathians, 5–7 degrees.
Monthly precipitation is forecast at 30–50 mm, and in the Carpathians — 60–90 mm, which is also within the normal range.
