The euro is rising sharply, the dollar is stable: how the hryvnia exchange rate will change at the end of the week
11 December 22:54
The National Bank of Ukraine has released official exchange rates for Friday, December 12. The hryvnia weakened against the euro, while the dollar remained virtually unchanged – such fluctuations may indicate different dynamics in global markets, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What has changed
According to the NBU, the euro will rise in price by 30 kopecks to UAH 49.51. This is a more significant increase compared to the last few days, when fluctuations were less sharp.
The dollar, on the other hand, will drop by 1 kopek to UAH 42.27. This minimal change indicates that the exchange rate is stable within the current band.
Official NBU exchange rates as of December 12
- 1 US dollar – UAH 42.27 (UAH 42.28 on December 11)
- 1 euro – UAH 49.51 (UAH 49.21 on December 11)
The current fluctuations in the euro may be related to movements in international currency markets, where the euro periodically strengthens amid expectations of decisions by the European Central Bank.
Meanwhile, the dollar remains more restrained, which is reflected in Ukrainian realities.
For the hryvnia, such changes are not yet a systemic trend, but the market is closely monitoring external factors, from the decisions of the Federal Reserve and the ECB to energy prices and geopolitical risks.
