The “wall of drones” project can be implemented within a year. This was announced by European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius in an interview with the Euractiv portal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, it is now necessary to understand that European countries do not have enough capabilities to detect drones. There are good means for detecting fighters and missiles, but UAVs have their own specifics – they fly very low and they are very small, the European Commissioner noted.
Kubilius came up with the idea of developing a “drone wall” on NATO’s eastern flank after the drone incident in Poland on the night of September 10.
The “Drone Wall” project is a joint initiative of Germany, Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states aimed at deploying a multifaceted system of surveillance and automated UAV defense systems along the entire border with Russia, including Ukraine. The project is currently at the stage of model development and selection.
