European countries will transfer equipment from at least six decommissioned thermal power plants and thermal power stations to Ukraine, which will help to quickly restore the capacity destroyed and damaged by Russia, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said following a meeting of the International Energy Agency, according to
“We have reached an agreement with Latvia, Austria, Finland, Croatia, France, and Germany on the possibility of receiving decommissioned equipment and its prompt delivery to Ukraine. We are talking about at least six decommissioned thermal power plants and thermal power stations that will be transferred to Ukraine,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the equipment will be transported and quickly installed, allowing Ukrainian energy companies to quickly restore the operation of key stations destroyed by Russia.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also noted that during the IEA meeting, an agreement was reached on EUR 250 million in contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, as well as a separate US aid program through the SPARK project worth $276 million. In addition, Ukraine will receive EUR 71 million in humanitarian aid from France during the year.
