A scandal has erupted in the Verkhovna Rada over the obstruction of MPs’ business trips. In this regard, the European Solidarity and Voice factions announced that they would put to a vote every amendment to the draft law on mobilisation. As a result, the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, which was supposed to take place this week, was cancelled altogether. This was stated by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko in an exclusive commentary to Kommersant Ukrainskiy mP Oleksiy Honcharenko said in an exclusive interview with Kommersant Ukrainskiy.

“There are factions that have constant problems with the approval of business trips. These are European Solidarity and Voice. There are also problems with other MPs. All this has led to the fact that there is a conversation that we can really insist on every amendment,”

– goncharenko said.

Despite the agreed agenda, according to the MP, the Verkhovna Rada meeting was cancelled altogether, with the official reason being that MPs were going to the frontline and reporting to the US Senate.

“The Servant of the People party is forming groups that will now go to inspect the fortifications and the situation at the front for the US Senate, so the meetings are cancelled. I personally don’t understand what the connection is and what it all means. To me, it all sounds like complete absurdity, why couldn’t we have gone on another day? I think this is a formal reason,”

– said the MP.

According to him, the Ukrainian parliament is currently in crisis.

“The conflict in the parliament is deepening and the Servant of the People does not have enough votes to pass bills, including the draft law on mobilisation,”

– honcharenko said.

We would like to add that the Verkhovna Rada cancelled this week’s session, as well as wrote on his Telegram channel, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the Voice party.

“Today the coalition cancels 3 days of voting. In fact, the Parliament will not meet for a month,”

– the MP said.

According to him, the parliament had many important laws on its agenda, including social, educational, military and at least 10 ratifications.

“As of Friday (which was cancelled earlier), there were 55 bills in the queue….. But the Coalition decided that since many of the partners did not come from their ‘business trips’, there was no need to meet))) Month….”,

– zheleznyak added.

New draft law on mobilisation

on 7 February, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new draft law on mobilisation without proposals from the relevant committee. More than 4,000 amendments have already been submitted to it.

The draft law proposes, among other things, to introduce summonses through the conscript’s electronic cabinet. Other innovations include lowering the conscription age to 25 years, setting the demobilisation period at 36 months, introducing voluntary mobilisation for convicts, restrictions on evaders, banning civil service without military training, etc.
