UAH 500 million allocated from the state budget for the development of Ukrainian universities: where will the funds go?

UAH 501,902.3 thousand is planned to be allocated from the State Budget of Ukraine for the development of professional pre-university and higher education institutions in 2024. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in response to a request from "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2024” of the Ministry of Education and Science provides for development expenditures in the amount of UAH 501,902.3 thousand under the budget programme KPKVK 2201140 “Fund for the Development of Professional Higher and Higher Education Institutions”,
– said the Ministry of Education and Science.
The Ministry explained that part of these funds will be used for the reconstruction, construction and repair of university shelters, namely
- new construction, major repairs, reconstruction and restoration of civil protection and dual-purpose structures with protective properties of a shelter/radiation shelter designed to shelter participants in the educational process of vocational pre-university and higher education institutions
- implementation of measures related to bringing the basements and/or basement premises of educational institutions into a condition suitable for use as simple shelters.
It is not known how much money will be allocated for the repair and construction of shelters, as the distribution of funds will be made after the relevant draft law is considered by the Cabinet of Ministers.
