The Russian occupiers posted a video online with the allegedly severed head of a Ukrainian soldier. In this regard, the Ukrainian side appealed to the UN and the Red Cross, accusing Russia of violating international law. This was reported by the Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The Human Rights Ombudsman has already appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding another act of violation of international humanitarian law by the Russian side.
Lubinets also stressed that Russia uses such videos to intimidate and demoralise Ukrainians.
“However, this only reaffirms our commitment to bring everyone who commits such inhuman atrocities to justice!” the ombudsman said.
The video with the severed head was shared on Russian Telegram channels. We decided not to show it because the footage could be shocking.
According to the DeepState project, the video was probably filmed at the Kolotylivka checkpoint in the Belgorod region. There, around 12 August, there was probably an unsuccessful attempt by the Defence Forces to break through the enemy.
It is noted that the video was filmed by soldiers of the 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, which is located in the Kursk region.
DeepState suggests that the prisoners, including future ones, from the 155th Brigade will have a “very difficult and slow fate”.
It should be noted that the Russian army regularly commits war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
As of early July, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the Russian army had executed more than 110 Ukrainian soldiers.
on 3 August, Lubinets also informed that he had appealed to the ICRC and the UN over the alleged brutal killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russians. At the time, it was allegedly about the severed limbs and head.
