Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the former CEO of Ukrenergo, was granted bail in the amount of UAH 13.7 million. He is accused of fraud on a particularly large scale.
This was reported by sources of RBC-Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“Kudrytsky was released on bail in the amount of UAH 13.7 million,” the media source said.
Kudrytsky’s case
on October 28, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to former Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation believes that he, along with businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, was involved in a scheme to illegally seize the state-owned enterprise’s funds.
According to law enforcement officers, in 2018, during tenders for the reconstruction of fences at substations of the Southern and Western power systems, Kudrytskyi, who was then Deputy Director for Investments, colluded with representatives of a private company.
The parties signed two contracts worth more than UAH 68 million. Of this amount, the contractor received an advance payment of UAH 13.7 million, which, according to the investigation, the suspects embezzled without intending to perform the work.
Yesterday, the court remanded Kudrytskyi in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 13.7 million.
It should be noted that the court hearing was attended by three MPs who declared their readiness to bail him out. At the same time, the prosecutor’s office insisted that Kudrytsky allegedly evaded the investigation and used “means of conspiracy,” so, in the prosecution’s opinion, he should have been taken into custody.
Kudrytsky stated that he considered the charges against him absurd.
