It is not so easy to block accounts of the military – lawyer Taras Borovskyi explained the procedure

In Ukraine, the blocking of bank accounts of persons liable for military service is not automatic, but follows a clear legal procedure.

Such measures are applied in case of evasion from military registration or failure to appear under a summons.

About this in a YouTube interview "Komersant Ukrainian" lawyer Taras Borovsky said in a YouTube interview.

“I just know how this mechanism works from the inside, so I support it. It sounds very repressive, but in fact, in order to block accounts, the TCC needs to send you a summons, you receive it and fail to appear. Then the TCC issues a fine, you don’t pay it, it sends the fine to the bailiff, the bailiff multiplies it by 2, adds 10% of the bailiff’s fee, and blocks the account,” Borovsky explained.

At the same time, he said, even if the accounts are blocked, the procedure can be appealed.

“And all this can be rolled back with a single court action… a statement of claim to the court, very simply through a lawyer. But this is a rather long process until the cards are blocked. They are not blocked just like that,” the lawyer noted.

According to Taras Borovskyi, the practice already exists, and lawyers help the military to unblock their accounts.

“I have conducted several cases to unblock accounts, of course. But this does not release the person from liability – they will have their accounts blocked again. They will have to apply again and again,” he summarized.
