Western leaders reassure their voters: no one will fight for Ukraine

Following French President Emmanuel Macron ‘s announcement that he was considering sending ground troops to Ukraine, France and the United States were quick to say that they would not fight in any case, even if they did arrive in Ukraine. This was reported by Kommersant Ukrainian
.
As a reminder, Emmanuel Macron has suggested that European ground forces could be sent to Ukraine. He said that there is no consensus yet, of course, but the issue is open for discussion.
The Kremlin reacted surprisingly quickly, traditionally with threats. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the risks if NATO members do send troops to Ukraine, said:
“In this case, we would have to talk not about the likelihood, but about the inevitability [of a direct conflict].”
After that, world leaders quickly issued statements about the impossibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
First, the French Foreign Minister, Stéphane Sejourne, said this. He emphasised that only non-combat missions could be considered:
“They must meet very specific needs, I mean, in particular, demining, cyber defence, weapons production on the ground, on Ukrainian territory.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was quick to sign for all European countries:
“There will be no ground troops or soldiers sent by European or NATO countries on Ukrainian soil.”
Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the US National Security Council, was more cautious in her statements and also said that combat missions were impossible:
“President Biden has made it clear that the United States will not send troops to fight in Ukraine.”
The British Prime Minister’s spokesman, Rishi Sunak, said there were no plans to send troops, but allegedly “accidentally” let slip that some were already in Ukraine:
“Apart from the small number of personnel that we have in the country supporting the Ukrainian armed forces, we have no plans for a large-scale deployment.”
Sweden was careful to say that such questions are “not relevant now”.
“Not at all relevant at the moment. The French tradition is not a Swedish tradition,”
– said Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Christerson.
Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic also distanced themselves from Macron’s statement.
“Festival of security agreements”
Ukraine’s western partners are much more willing to participate in the “Festival of Security Agreements with Ukraine” when their countries guarantee our security under bilateral agreements such as the Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine has already signed such agreements with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy and Canada. Under these agreements, these states pledge to support Ukraine in the face of the Russian threat with finance, weapons and humanitarian aid.
The United States and Poland may be among the next signatories, as it is known that the government is negotiating with these countries.
For example, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, said that two rounds of talks between Ukraine and the US have already taken place on the content and content of the relevant agreement with the US government.
Ukraine is desperately trying to gain the support of the world. In particular, the following 5 points of the Ukrainian Formula for Peace were presented at this year’s Davos Economic Forum.
