I ordered in the app and picked it up without waiting in line: McDonald’s is testing a new service

On October 28, the American McDonald’s chain began testing a service in Ukrainian restaurants that allows you to place and pay for an order in the app and then pick it up in the chosen format at the restaurant. According to the press service, the pilot was launched in four locations in the capital, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
How the service works
In the mobile app, the client chooses one of the available restaurants in Kyiv, creates a basket of dishes, pays for the order online, and determines the method of delivery. Once the order is confirmed, the status appears in the app, and the restaurant prepares it for delivery. The format is designed to reduce waiting time in line.
Where the pilot is available in Kyiv
Mobile Order is currently being tested in four Kyiv restaurants of the chain:
- 1 E. Sverstyuk str
- 1/2 Sofiyivska St
- 7 Hryshka St
- 47 European Union Avenue
The list of outlets is limited to test the processes, workload and convenience for guests before the wider rollout.
Scaling plans
McDonald’s notes that after the successful completion of the test period, the service will be gradually launched throughout Ukraine. The pilot will allow to work out technical nuances, delivery logistics, and integration with the kitchen at different types of locations.

International context
Mobile ordering is already commonplace in many markets, including the US, Canada, Germany, and the UK. For Ukraine, the current test is a step towards unifying the customer experience with the chain’s global practice and expanding digital channels of interaction with guests.
How to place an order in the McDonald’s mobile app
To do this, you need to follow a few simple steps:
- go to the app and click “Order”
- select the nearest restaurant
- select the desired dishes;
- decide how to receive your order: McDrive, table service, or order pickup;
- pay for the order online with a bank card;
- receive your order.

Ukraine is the 102nd country where the McDonald’s network began to develop. on May 24, 1997, the first fast food restaurant of this chain was opened near the Lukyanivska metro station in Kyiv.
The company is one of the largest foreign investors in Ukraine and the largest taxpayer in the restaurant sector. The chain has more than 100 restaurants in Ukraine. Since opening its first restaurant in 1997, the fast food chain has invested billions of hryvnias in the Ukrainian economy.
