Media: Scheduled meeting in Paris on peace plan for Ukraine will not take place

On Saturday, December 13, delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Europe were scheduled to meet in Paris to discuss a peace plan. However, these talks will not take place.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to RFM.

“There will be no meeting on Ukraine in Paris on Saturday,” a source at the Elysee Palace said.

Meeting in Paris

Earlier, Axios, citing Ukrainian sources and the White House, reported that the next meeting on the Ukraine peace plan is scheduled for December 13 in Paris.

“Senior U.S. officials and representatives from Ukraine, France, Germany and the United Kingdom are expected to meet on the U.S. peace plan,” the publication said.

According to Axios, Ukraine and European countries were to be represented by national security advisors. However, it was reportedly unclear whether US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who, in addition to his main position, is US President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, would attend.

It is worth adding that the US president himself also reacted to the planned events. He confirmed that there would be a meeting in Paris, but at the same time said that he did not yet know whether there would be a representative from the United States. According to him, Washington will send a person only if there is a good chance of achieving a result.

Probably, the point was that Ukraine should agree to the American plan in its current form. The WSJ recently reported that Trump, during a phone call, urged European leaders to put pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the American peace plan.

By the way, the German government’s press service said that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will meet with Zelensky on Monday to discuss the ongoing peace talks on Ukraine. The talks are expected to include European leaders, as well as representatives of the European Union and NATO.
