Ukraine’s national team wins the Golden Euroleague

Ukraine’s men’s national volleyball team won the prestigious Golden Euroleague 2024 tournament! The final match took place on 16 June 2024 in the Croatian city of Osijek, where the Ukrainians faced the hosts of the tournament – the Croatian national team.
The match was tense and exciting until the last draw. Despite losing the opening set, Raul Lozano’s Ukrainian team showed a fighting spirit and demonstrated a quality game, which allowed them to win with a score of 3:1 (23:25, 25:19, 28:26, 25:19).
Prior to that, Ukraine easily defeated the Czech Republic 3-0 in the semi-finals.

The victory over Croatia brought the Ukrainian national team its second ever Golden Euroleague title. Previously, they celebrated their triumph in 2017. In total, Ukrainian volleyball players played in the final of this tournament for the fourth time. In 2023, they lost a decisive match to the Turkish national team.



As the winners of the Golden Euroleague 2024, the Ukrainian team received gold medals and a cash prize of €100,000.
Unfortunately, the Ukrainian women’s national team failed to make it to the final of the Golden Euroleague and lost its chances to qualify for the 2024 Candidates Cup. The women’s national team of Ukraine also has two victories in the Golden Euroleague tournaments.
The men’s national team will now take part in the League of Nations Candidates Tournament, which will be held from 4 to 7 July in China. Ukraine will play Chile in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
