Zelensky and Trump start a dialogue at the White House: the US leader voiced an ultimatum

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Washington and has already begun a conversation with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to foreign media.
The leader of Ukraine arrived at the White House, where he was met by Donald Trump himself near his car on the carpet. By the way, the president has not personally met any of the European leaders who are also currently in the US capital. The politicians were greeted by the head of protocol, Monica Crowley. Also, Trump’s meeting with the European political elite will take place in a banquet hall instead of the Oval Office.
Donald Trump has also already said that he really likes the fact that Zelenskyy arrived in a business suit this time. The Ukrainian leader did indeed choose a black shirt and a black suit for the talks with his American counterpart.

The two heads of state have now begun their dialog. However, before that, the head of the White House announced his position. It is as follows: if today’s talks do not result in a peace agreement, the United States will stop supporting Ukraine. Trump did not specify what kind of support he meant: military, financial, or in the international arena.
Today there will be either a deal or no deal. If not, then support for Ukraine stops. I don’t know when the war will end. But this war will end. We will make sure that this war ends. We have to ensure a lasting peace: we will work with both Ukraine and Russia,” Trump said.
The Ukrainian leader was also accompanied by other officials who arrived in the US capital:
- Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov;
- Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova;
- The head of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, Andriy Yermak;
- Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya;
- Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Embassy Pavlo Palisa.
Before meeting with Donald Trump, the President of Ukraine met with the leaders of Finland, the United Kingdom, Italy, the European Commission, and the NATO Secretary General in Washington, D.C. The main goal of the meeting was “a reliable and lasting peace for Ukraine and the whole of Europe.
We have to stop the killings, and I thank the partners who are working for this and, ultimately, for a reliable and dignified peace,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also added that one of the key issues in the talks with President Trump would be the joint participation of the United States and Europe in creating a future security architecture for Ukraine, and thus for the entire European continent.
