Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists on the need to meet with his American counterpart Donald Trump, as “there are some issues that cannot be put on hold.”
According to [Komersant], the Ukrainian president’s statement was reported by “Interfax-Ukraine.”
Zelenskyy noted that he had not spoken with Trump regarding the easing of U.S. sanctions against Russian oil.
At the same time, he emphasized that Trump is aware of Ukraine’s position on this matter.
“I think we have many issues: regarding the negotiations, the drones, and the Middle East. I think we need to meet with the president already. Because the teams are working, but we have some issues that remain unresolved. Our teams need to work harder on our meeting,” Zelenskyy said.
As is known, the United States has lifted sanctions on Russian oil, which is currently already on tankers at sea. The U.S. explained this decision by the global rise in oil prices resulting from the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran and the latter’s strikes on many Gulf countries, which effectively paralyzed oil exports from the region.
Ukrainian diplomatic circles believe that the U.S. decision to lift sanctions on Russian oil will help Russia wage war for longer.
