President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that in 2018, the United States adopted the Crimean Declaration during Donald Trump’s first term in office, which recognized the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The head of state wrote about this on Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine acts in accordance with its own Constitution and expressed confidence that partners, including the United States, will also be guided by “strong decisions.”

To reaffirm the United States’ consistent support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, the president published the text of a 2018 declaration in which the United States explicitly states that it does not recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea and pledges to maintain this position until Ukraine’s borders are fully restored.

“It is good that five countries met (in London – ed.) to bring peace closer. Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The parties expressed their views and respected each other’s positions. It is important that each side was not only present, but also worked in a meaningful way. The American side shared its vision. Ukraine and other Europeans presented their achievements. And we hope that such joint work will lead to lasting peace. We are grateful to our partners. Ukraine will always act in accordance with its Constitution, and we are absolutely confident that our partners, in particular the United States, will act in accordance with their strong decisions,” the head of state emphasized.

Earlier, Trump emphasized that Zelenskyy’s statements that Ukraine does not recognize the occupation of Crimea “harm peace talks with Russia.”
