Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday, August 18.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the President’s Telegram.
Zelenskyy had a long and meaningful conversation with Trump, first one-on-one, and then with the participation of European leaders.
The total time of the talks exceeded an hour and a half, with Trump lasting about an hour.
“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and the trilateral format is suitable for this,” he said.
The President also emphasized the importance of engaging European partners to ensure Ukraine’s security together with the United States.
He added that he continues to coordinate positions with all allies and thanks everyone who supports Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said he would discuss details about ending the war and the killings with Trump during a meeting in Washington on Monday.
On the evening of August 15, US President Donald Trump met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska. The main topic of the talks was Russia’s military actions in Ukraine.
According to Trump, they failed to reach a truce agreement during the meeting, and now further developments depend on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
