The Russian strike on Kharkiv on 23 May resulted in 50,000 books burning in the destroyed printing house. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed the horrific consequences of the shelling, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Yesterday’s Russian attack on the Kharkiv region, which killed and injured people, destroyed a printing house and burned 50,000 books, demonstrates that Russia is at war with humanity and all aspects of normal life. Russian terrorists are killing adults and children, destroying cities and villages, leaving scorched spots where once there was a normal life,”

– the President wrote.

He expressed his belief that the victory over the Russian invasion requires the determination of world leaders.

“Russian terror must lose. And this requires only one thing – the determination of world leaders. Sufficient determination. Sufficient air defence of Ukrainian cities and communities, sufficient long-range capabilities of our soldiers, sufficiently bold political decisions. We are grateful to everyone who is with Ukraine!”

– Zelensky stressed.

It should be noted that on 23 May, Russians massively attacked the Kharkiv region. In particular, the attack damaged the Factor Printing House in Kharkiv, one of the largest full-cycle printing complexes where books are printed by most Ukrainian publishers.

The owner of the Factor group of companies, Serhiy Polituchiy, said that the printing house’s equipment worth 3-4 million euros had burned down, leaving the printing house virtually inoperable.

According to him, the printing house was a kind of printing plant that printed everything – newspapers, magazines and books. The binding shop has an area of 4,000 square metres, 1,000 of which was completely burnt out.

So far, there are 7 dead and 16 injured employees of the enterprise. Together with law enforcement, the burnt bodies are being identified using DNA tests.
