Zelenskyy on the Defense Forces in Kursk Region: “The command saves the lives of soldiers”

President of Ukraine and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the command of the Defense Forces in the Kursk region is trying to save as many lives of Ukrainian soldiers as possible. He told journalists this when assessing the situation in the Kursk region, including information that the Defense Forces are retreating there, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Suspilne.
“Our troops in the Kursk region are fulfilling their tasks, the Russians are trying to put maximum pressure on our troops, the military command is doing what it has to do – saving the lives of our soldiers,”
– the President commented.
At the same time, he expects that on the eve of the upcoming rounds of talks with the United States, Russians will only put more pressure in this direction.
“I think the issue is not even that they are raising the temperature on the Kursk direction. There will be different intimidations, including nuclear ones. We need to understand that this is also a clear methodology of Russia’s actions before any format of diplomacy. We need to be sober and respond to real threats, not just information ones,”
– zelenskyy said.
In recent days, there has been more and more information that Ukrainian troops are retreating in the Kursk region. In particular, the Russians are already allegedly in control of a large part of Sudzha, and the Russian flag is raised over the city administration there. Forbes reported that some Ukrainian troops are leaving the Kursk region. Therefore, it is likely that the Kursk campaign of the Defense Forces is nearing completion.

The Kursk campaign of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
In August 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a large-scale offensive against the Kursk region of Russia, which was the largest invasion of Russian territory since World War II.
