Zelensky arrives in Davos: what is known about the meeting with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Switzerland to participate in the World Economic Forum and meet with US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Zelensky’s schedule in Davos
According to the Office of the President, Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Donald Trump at approximately 2:00 p.m. Kyiv time. As of now, only a protocol photo shoot is planned, but the format may change shortly before the meeting.
At 3:30 p.m., the Ukrainian president will deliver his main speech at the summit. It will be broadcast with translation.
In addition, the head of state will participate in a panel discussion entitled “International Advisory Council for Ukraine’s Recovery,” dedicated to the restoration of Ukraine. The event will also include meetings with representatives of international energy companies.
Confirmation of the trip
Earlier on Thursday morning, Ukrainian presidential adviser Dmytro Litvin confirmed to reporters that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was heading to Switzerland. The American agency Bloomberg also reported on the preparations for the visit on January 22, citing sources.
The day before, on January 21, Axios, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official, reported that a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the United States was scheduled for Thursday in Davos to discuss a peace plan.
What is known about the negotiations
According to Axios, the meeting is scheduled to take place around noon, before White House negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner leave for Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In addition, on Wednesday, Donald Trump publicly announced during his speech in Davos that he was planning to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky, confirming it at the highest political level.
Doubts about the trip and the “last mile”
On January 20, when the Davos forum had already started, Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not rule out the possibility of canceling the trip due to Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The president noted that participation in the forum was possible provided that a plan for prosperity and security guarantees was signed with the United States.
“There is still the last mile to go to finalize these documents,” Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.
What is known about the World Economic Forum
The 56th World Economic Forum began in Davos on January 19. More than 100 heads of state and government, as well as leaders of leading international companies and financial institutions, are participating in the event. The forum will last until January 23 under the slogan “The Spirit of Dialogue.”
During his speeches in Davos, Donald Trump also touched on the topic of a peace agreement and spoke of “abnormal hatred” in the relations between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, which, according to him, complicates the negotiation process.
