President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived on an official visit to Greece. His plane has already landed at Athens airport.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to ERT NEWS.
According to media reports, the plane with Zelenskyy landed at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport around 12:30 local time. Athens became the first stop of his new European tour. The Ukrainian leader was met at the airport by Greek Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hadzidax, with whom Zelenskyy had a brief conversation.
The main topics of the visit were the creation of a vertical LNG transportation corridor and the preparation of a new energy agreement between Kyiv and Athens. The document is expected to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security.
During his stay in Athens, Zelenskyy will hold a series of meetings with the country’s leadership.
This is Zelenskyy’s second visit to Athens, having first visited in August 2023. The next stops on his European trip will be Paris and Madrid.
In the morning, Zelenskiy announced an agreement with Greece on gas for Ukraine.
“We already have agreements on financing gas imports, and we will cover the need for almost 2 billion euros in gas imports to compensate for the loss of Ukrainian production due to Russian strikes,” Zelensky said.
In addition, Zelenskyy announced visits to France on Monday, November 17, to sign a “historic agreement” to strengthen combat aviation, air defense and defense capabilities. “The content of the visit is good. This is what really helps Ukraine defend itself and achieve our goals,” he assured.
on November 18, Zelenskyy will arrive in Spain, where he expects a productive visit. “Another strong country that has joined the partners in those initiatives that really help us. Our top priorities today are air defense, air defense systems, missiles,” the president said.
In addition, work is underway to launch negotiations on ending the war and resuming prisoner exchanges.
“Many meetings, negotiations, and calls are being held for this purpose,” Zelensky emphasized.
