President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova as his advisor on Ukraine’s reconstruction and investment.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the President’s Telegram.
“From now on, Oksana Markarova will continue to help our country as my advisor on Ukraine’s reconstruction and investment. We will definitely defend our independence and Ukraine’s right to be a sovereign European state,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that his team has been ensuring Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and resist full-scale Russian aggression on a daily basis for almost 4 years.
Also, despite all the difficulties, it provides Ukraine with the necessary weapons, air defense systems, and sufficient resources for internal stability.
“But, in addition to the fundamental goal of protecting Ukraine’s independence and working daily for Ukraine’s survival, we have a long-term goal – to ensure that Ukraine can rebuild after the fighting and resume normal economic development. This is a task for the government of Ukraine, all our institutions, Ukrainian business, and I believe that everyone who can help Ukraine in this should help,” the president added.
Zelensky emphasized that he was glad that Markarova remained in his team.
The President’s Office noted that Markarova has significant experience in public finance and private capital management, as well as in attracting investment.
While holding senior positions at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, she created the government agency UkraineInvest and the Startup Support Fund.
The advisor will advise the president on issues related to improving the business climate, strengthening the financial stability of the state, attracting investment and planning for reconstruction together with Ukraine’s strategic partners.
Oksana Markarova served as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States from 2021 to 2025. In 2018-2020, she served as Minister of Finance.
