President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is not interested in ending the war, although his position on the battlefield is no longer as strong as it used to be. Zelensky said this during a Zoom briefing for journalists, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Volodymyr Zelenskyy assessed the situation of the Russian dictator at the front.

“First, he is not in a weak position. He is not in a winning position, but six months ago his initiative was stronger. Today the situation has changed, but he still controls it. He does not want us to leave at least one of our detachments in the Kursk region,” Zelensky explained.

Putin’s tactics: pressure instead of peace

Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia’s tactics have remained unchanged since the occupation in 2014: pressure, intimidation and missile attacks to create favorable conditions at the end of the conflict.

The President of Ukraine explained the Kremlin’s strategy:

“This is its tactical understanding: to put pressure in all directions, to frighten people, to launch missiles in order to create better conditions for itself at the end of the war.”

Despite this, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is demonstrating its readiness for peace by destroying the myths of Russian propaganda.

“Ukraine has shown that it wants the war to end. We are stronger than he thought and ready for a complete ceasefire without any reason,” he emphasized.

This position, he said, puts Putin in a difficult position in front of the world. Zelenskyy believes that Putin’s unwillingness to end the war will complicate his relations with the international community.

He added that this will affect even countries that have so far tried to remain neutral:

“This will also apply to other countries that have been trying to balance between Ukraine and Russia.”

Such a change could increase Russia’s isolation and support for Ukraine at the global level.
